Obscuracon is Coming To Eureka Springs
I’ve always been interested in weird, fringe ideas. Ghosts, aliens, cryptids, psychic phenomena. As a scientist, my gut instinct is to be skeptical. Most of these things defy what we do know about the world. For them to be incorporated into the mainstream worldview, then, there would need to be a number of anomalies that all align and explain things in a more coherent and plausible fashion.
However skeptical I might be about these phenomena, I find them endlessly fascinating. I love to think about how aliens might have visited us in the past, how consciousness could be expanded beyond what we currently understand, or how something might exist beyond the dimension or realm in which we live.
This means I like talking to people who think about these things every day and have made it part of their professional life to do so. So, why not host a convention that brings all of these people together?
Enter ObscuraCon, July 24 & 25th, 2026.
Eureka Springs is already a weird place, often referred to as a vortex (whatever that means), one of the most haunted towns in the US, and an area of general “high strangeness.” It seemed like the perfect place for a gathering of the bizarre.
So, my friend Danny and I combined our somewhat obscure and fringe networks to pull together an insanely cool lineup of speakers that span cryptozoology, the paranormal, UFOs/UAPs, parapsychology, and more.
Across two full days in July, we’ll have discussions from leading experts on topics such as haunted dolls, the Navajo Rangers’ paranormal task force, the beast of Boggy Creek, MUFON’s work on alien disclosure, field studies on Dogman, the true nature of the Annunaki, the intersection of politics and the occult, new paranormal investigation technology, weather magic, and QHHT. Complimenting these talks will be over 30 vendors with a range of bizarre wares and services.
We’ll also have some workshops and side events. One of the most anticipated side events is Patti Negri’s seancé at The Crescent Hotel, billed as “America’s Most Haunted Hotel.” Other workshops include a create your own Sumerian tablet workshop hosted by Dr. Heather Lynn and a Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique (QHHT) session led by Vivian Wouters. Ron James, the Director of Media Relations at the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) will also be screening his new documentary on UFO disclosure.
Tickets for the convention are on sale now, and separately ticketed workshop tickets will be available soon. We are also hosting the “First Contact Ball” Saturday night, so come dressed as your favorite cryptid, spirit, or extraterrestrial species!
