The biggest morbid curiosity/horror fan dataset in existence
How it relates to sexual orientation, race, and sex
How well do you know the horror/morbidly curious community?
I’ve had my Morbid Curiosity Test up on my website for a little over two years now. In that time, over 100,000 people from all over the world have taken the test. At some point in the past year or so, I thought it would be a good idea to add a few optional questions at the end. Once people finished the test, they had the option to report their age, sex, sexual orientation, race, and how much they enjoyed the horror genre. Around 70,000 people have answered those questions.
These may sound basic, but some of these questions don’t really have any data behind them, and certainly none have data containing 70,000 responses. This is almost certainly the biggest dataset on morbid curiosity and horror in existence, so I thought I’d share some of the findings with you.
Some of the questions are really interesting. For example, I often get asked if horror is enjoyed more among the gay community. This data answers that question. Are men more likely to enjoy horror or be morbidly curious? Also a clear answer here. Mexico seems to love horror: are those who report being Hispanic/Latino more morbidly curious? You’ll find that here, too.
First I want to get some predictions from my readers. How well do you know the horror/morbidly curious crowd?
Now, let’s see if you were right.
